Reducing Reherniation Risk with the Barricaid® Device
We are pleased to offer the Barricaid® Annular Closure Device, a breakthrough technology used during certain spinal surgeries to help lower the risk of future disc herniation.
When a herniated disc in the lower back is treated with a discectomy (removal of damaged disc material), there is a chance the disc could reherniate. The Barricaid® device is designed to reduce that risk by acting as a barrier — sealing the opening in the disc where the material was removed.
Benefits of the Barricaid® device include:
- Lower chance of needing another surgery
- Protection of the disc space
- Continued pain relief and restored mobility
- Proven results in long-term studies
This FDA-approved device is placed during surgery and works with your body to support spinal stability. It is ideal for patients with large disc herniations who are at a higher risk for reherniation.
If you’re scheduled for a lumbar discectomy, ask our spine care team if the Barricaid® closure device is right for you.
